About The 2010 Field
By Jon Cooper
The inaugural Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic is a hard act to follow, as it featured magnificent performances, drama and, in the end, a remarkable upset in the championship game, as unranked Southern Cal upset No. 20 UNLV. But the 2010 field has the potential, and the field, to top 2009. There are three teams that reached the NCAA Tournament, including finalist Butler, Elite 8 team Baylor and Florida State. Then there’s Mississippi State, which won 24 games and, in its conference tournament championship game, nearly upended the nation’s No. 1 team. The four-day tournament will feature some of the nation’s best young coaches (Butler’s Brad Stevens, Baylor’s Scott Drew, Utah’s Jim Boylen), and some of its top young talent (including Butler’s back court of Ronald Nored and Shelvin Mack, Baylor’s LaceDarius Dunn, WSU’s Klay Thompson and FSU’s Chris Singleton). Here’s a look at the 2010 field: MORE
